Rise Up for Life
Life Integrity Network was founded in 2020 by Esao Otieno, a man deeply burdened by the rising threats to human life and dignity in modern society. At the time, Esao was living in Nyeri, in the central region of Kenya, when the calling to take action grew louder in his heart. What began as a quiet burden soon transformed into a life mission: to protect and uphold the sanctity of human life at all costs. With a desire to inspire a return to God’s heart for people, Esao first named the initiative “Love God Love People.” The mission was clear—responding to the cry for compassion and dignity for all. As the burden evolved, so did the mission, and the organization was renamed “IReach Kenya Foundation,” with a focus on tackling the devastating crisis of substance abuse.
This mission was not just a cause—it was personal. Esao’s extended family had felt the sting of substance addiction. He had lost family members to drugs and alcohol. His own paternal grandmother brewed alcohol in her home, a reality that exposed him early to the destructive effects of addiction. And yet, by the grace of God, Esao testifies that he has never used or tasted any substance of abuse. His stance is firm, not just as a leader, but as a living example that one can choose a different path. As he continued his mission, Esao’s eyes were opened further. He witnessed growing gender identity confusion among the youth—young people unsure of who they were, caught between cultural misinformation and global narratives. This birthed a new commitment: to advocate for God-given gender identity, restoring dignity and clarity to a generation in search of truth. The burden deepened further when he encountered the pain of abortion and unplanned pregnancies. So many were silently suffering, rejected, or abandoned in their time of need. Esao knew something had to be done. The organization expanded to offer pregnancy crisis care, delivering hope and practical support to those affected.
His own life experiences continued to shape the organization’s mission. Having lived in Donholm, Nairobi’s Eastlands, Esao was directly affected by youth crime and unemployment. One evening, while walking along Savannah Road, he encountered a group of idle and jobless young men who attempted to steal his laptop and phone. But by God's protection, he escaped unharmed. That moment left a lasting impression on him. He realized that crime was not just a statistic—it was a desperate cry for purpose, guidance, and opportunity. This encounter added yet another layer to the vision: crime prevention and youth empowerment. Recognizing that all these issues—substance abuse, gender confusion, abortion, and youth crime—were symptoms of a deeper loss of life’s sacredness, Esao rebranded the mission under one name: Life Integrity Network. Today, Life Integrity Network stands as a dynamic, Christ-centred organization calling people everywhere to “Rise Up for Life.” Through advocacy, education, prevention, and compassionate outreach, the organization is restoring dignity, hope, and purpose in Kenya— one life at a time.
